No, Star of Christmas e-cards are completely free! Sharing your free e-card will result in a $2 donation being made by Empire Company Limited – up to a maximum of $50,000. 

All donations directly support local Atlantic Canadian food banks. For every Star of Christmas e-card that is shared on social media, emailed to a loved one, or downloaded for personal use, Empire Company Limited will donate $2 – up to a maximum of $50,000. Send a card between December 1 – December 24, 2025 to be part of that donation.

You can support your local food bank by donating in person from December 1-24, 2025, at local Sobeys, Foodland and participating CO-OP stores, either with a cashier at checkout or at a Self-Checkout unit (in applicable stores). 100% of funds raised and donated will support your local food bank.
